The Black Coffin

We gathered in the church to mourn a man's death,

The air was so chill I could see my own breath,

I walked the church floor and not a soul stared at me,

Down the isle a black coffin was the only thing I could see,

Stepping silently past the pews and through each and every tear,

I approached the black coffin with a slight hint of fear,

The coffin was open and I saw the man's face,

I knew this man, I knew this place,

My eyes stood still...This cannot be,

The man lying in the coffin...was me.
