A Knight’s Tale

Far away in yonder land across the deep blue sea
There lived a maid as pure as snow, with hair of glittering gold

Her eyes they shone like diamonds, her skin as soft as silk
This maid of mine, she won my heart this pretty maid of yore

Then Sorense came, his build so strong, a god come down to walk
She took one look and followed him, across the deep blue sea

My heart ‘twas wrenched, my mind awhirl my dreams lay at my feet
For now, I’d lost that maid so fair, the one of all my dreams

‘Twas after summer word did come, of troubles from beyond
I soon was with the marching men, as off to war we set

We fought and died and won the frae, the cost alas ‘twas much
For many a lad of noble birth did fall upon scorched earth

‘Twas then while far across the sea, I heard of my dear maid
Her life, had been o’ sorrow filled I wept that night for her

Yes, gallant though her husband seemed, he was an evil man
He played with powers deep below, the dark and evil ones

Her love had melted soon I heard, for love ‘twas naught in him
But lust and sensual perverse ways had filled his very soul

I took my sword and set to right, the wrong I knew ‘twas done
‘Twas many a year of searching deep afore I found my goal

I met him on the battle field he used his evil power
But love did fill my heart with strength and so I won the day

And now I live with my dear love ‘Tis happy now I be
For she has learned, that love so pure, is not in flesh alone

No, love is something deep inside that light doth put within
And this will flower and bring forth fruit while lust will lay so bare

So this my merry listener, now I ask you well to heed
For songs, I sing, to teach the true important things to you

To warn and teach and prepare thee for what will come thy way
Do not let looks deceive your heart, let not the evil in

For dark the power that sends these snares he hopes to tempt thy heart
But look to love and know thy heart, for there lies light and joy
