Season’s Changes

I sit upon an old dead log
Deep in the emerald woods,

Relaxing and observing all
While munching on my food

Cold the wind caressing me
Stirring up the leaves

Spiraling them unto the air
Where birds do chirp and sing

Hear the crisp and crunching sound
Of dry leaves underfoot

The fresh clean smell within the air
The trees in colours gay

Browns, greens, yellows and the reds
Their leaves a beauty to behold

I always welcome autumn grasp
Relief from the summer heat

Cool winds and the falling leaves
It’s something quite special

The trees discarding all their leaves
Prepare for winter’s cloak

The ice and snow the wild winds
The trials and tests of time

Until the change doth come again
And then rebirth in spring

How like our life these times of year
If we but look and see

As autumn follows summer’s sun
As winter’s hands do chill

So sorrow often follows joy
In trials of life’s great storm

We loose the freshness of our soul
Our joy doth fade and wilt

Our graces scattered on the ground
As despair sweeps our heart

And then comes winter cold and dark
The sorrow falls on us

Our soul is shaken in its grasp
Tears and anguish flow

We weep and pray it will depart
Our faith oft weakens so

The trials and heartaches of life’s storms
Engulf us in their midst

Yet if we stand the test before
Enduring winters winds

The light of spring will soon come round
Rebirth and growth in soul

Life is like the seasons four
A cycle we will meet

And like the oak they stronger make
If we but strongly stand

Embrace adversity in life
Clasp it to your breast

These tests and trails will make you whole
You’ll be the stronger soul
