The Bard

Twas on the high hill looking west
The winds did burl and screech

The sea it roared and crashed below
The gulls they dived then rose

The bard stood there his face aglow
His spirit somewhere else

It traveled now the Otherworld
His spirit reaching out

The people watched - their eyes alight
They knew the gods would speak

His hands they held his golden harp
His hair blew like a cloak

And then it was his voice did sing
As golden as the lark

His fingers plucked the notes did fly
Transporting one and all

A time to come yet far away
Where towers reach the sky

Iron birds do clash and vie
And bards no longer tread

Hordes do come as death they bring
The world alight it seems

Volcanoes burst and earthquakes shake
And famine everywhere

The air it talks and people hear
In glass the world is seen

Communication instantly
Pictures, sounds as well

No peace he sees just hate and death
As wars engulf each land

A ruler strong - a man of blood
Who seeks to rule the world

The doors between dimensions see
Now open one and all

I see the dark gods striding through
Their evil hordes also

Apotheon doth laugh with glee
As Pan his pipes doth play

Bacchus downs another cup
While snatching one more soul

Spirits vile do interact
They enter flesh and bone

Taking what is freely given
Horrors perpetrate

The music plays - as oft it will
Its instruments - traps and snares

Lucifer, his music plays
Ensnaring all who hear

The fiddler weaves his magic spell
The ravens feast once more

The bats fly round in clouds so black
The wolf howls to the moon

The dance has now begun to flow
Death and Hell keep time

Leviathan doth roar in glee
The dragons soar on high

The world at last is now their home
Man’s rule has come to end

The demons and the gods rejoice
For war and death are here

The dawning of the New Order
The old has passed away

As worlds collide like cosmic waves
The banshee wails and screams

The ghouls and witches counsel now
The warlocks weave their spells

Everywhere the stench of death
The rivers crimson run

Hell hath made its abode here
Despair the daily fare

And yet as ever hope remains
Though hidden in the dark

A simple ray of light and love
Yet growing all the time

Were evil lives then so doth good
Where hate abides doth love

Where darkness covers all around
The light dispels it all

The dragon screams its hate abroad
The unicorn its love

The demons kill they rip and slay
The angels, life doth bring

For hope - the seed where faith doth spring
As courage doth inspire

The bard he sang, the people sat
He moved their very soul

Twas not the stories they did know
Twas future things unveiled

And then the silence still, did fall
No whisper could be heard

The bard returned, the veil was closed
The Otherworld now shut

He smiled and packed his harp away
Some coins he did collect

A meal to eat, a place to sleep
Then journey on his way

Another place, another time
Another vision sees

The bard did travel many lands
And many things did see

But who remembers what he sang
Who his tales do speak

Distorted by the passing time
Lost in pages past

Some walking in the misty lands
Do stumble on his prose

Empty words or future truths
A question you must ask

The day of bard is now long past
Their words yet still remain
