The Barmaid

The barmaid was a winsome lass
She sauntered down the aisles
The men did turn and glance at her
A quite provoking lass

So, drink my brawny lads I say
Let’s drink a round to them
The barmaid and the sweet young lass
Who soon will lay with me?

So hears to all the pretty maids
Who win the hearts of men
And hears to Rona sweet and soft
Who gave her love to me

So, drink my brawny lads I say
Let’s drink a round to them
The barmaid and the sweet young lass
Who soon will lay with me

Now Sherrel was so ripe an fair
She flaunted all her charms
She won this hardened heart of mine
Wi’ a’ her bonny charm

So, drink my brawny lads I say
Let’s drink a round to them
The barmaid and the sweet young lass
Who soon will lay with me

I met dear Heather sweet and blithe
Upon a summer morn
‘Twas in no time she lay with me
Upon the grassy knoll

So, drink my brawny lads I say
Let’s drink a round to them
The barmaid and the sweet young lass
Who soon will lay with me

The sun it kissed our tender skins
We soon became as one
We loved beneath the summer sun
The grass it was our bed

So, drink my brawny lads I say
Let’s drink a round to them
The barmaid and the sweet young lass
Who soon will lay with me

Her husband found us thus embraced
Beneath the sunny sky
He caught me by the neck you see
And laid me in my bed

So, drink my brawny lads I say
Let’s drink a round to them
The barmaid and the sweet young lass
Who soon will lay with me

Two weeks it took afore I rose
Another one to walk
But by the third I found a lass
To sooth the pain away

So, drink my brawny lads I say
Let’s drink a round to them
The barmaid and the sweet young lass
Who soon will lay with me

So hears to all you bright young lads
Let youthful love take sway
But watch I say for the wedded lass
Or you’ll end up like me

So, drink my brawny lads I say
Let’s drink a round to them
The barmaid and the sweet young lass
Who soon will lay with me
