THE MIDNIGHT HOUR

The clock it struck the midnight hour
A mouse just skittered by
The floorboards creaked as shutters slammed
Tonight she’d walk again
The wind it howled the old cat screeched
The doors just creaked and groaned
As darkness fell upon the house
I shivered from in my bed
Katrina walked the old house halls
She moved towards my room
The air so cold my nose turned blue
The windows frosted up
I heard the stairs now groan aloud
I watched with bated breath
My heart it raced just like the wind
I saw the doorknob turn
It flew wide open
There she stood
I gasped as she drew near to me
Forever cursed, forever cursed
To walk these empty halls
Each year she always came to me
And waiting here I am
She smiled she knew that I’d be here
The curse was mine as well
Death would never separate
Cursed we both had been
Katrina to die and me to live
And once a year to meet
Bound in heart and soul we were
An old Gypsy’s curse it was
Horrors we had done one night
We reap but what we’d sown
She reached the bed before me now
I felt her icy hand on me

Death joined with me tonight
