THURSDAY AFTERNOON
Its winter time and all is white
My scarf and gloves I value more
Boots and hat - A nice warm coat
I tramp along the frozen snow
Thursday afternoon
Frozen duck pond - Rocks and stones
Frosted trees - Broken ice
Swans are walking - Some sit still
Few birds there are to see
Thursday afternoon
Gray the clouds - Dark the sky
Old park clock does not keep time
Benches bare - Old and worn
Trees some broken- Winds so cold
Thursday afternoon
People running - Mums with prams
Men with dogs- Some on bikes
People sitting - People lonely
Life goes on
Thursday afternoon
My nose is dripping - Ears so cold
Arab, Polish Hindu, Sikh
Somali, Paki, Romani too
Mixed the people here today
Thursday afternoon
Worried mind - Ah so confused
Troubled soul - Body too
Cold my heart - My mind so gray
I fall to despairs charms
Thursday afternoon
Kids come running- It’s a school
Shorts and tee-shirts - Spirit free
Boys and girls - And teacher too
Laughter I do hear
Thursday afternoon
Unemployed, tramps and old
Refugees, all sit around, sadness doth resound
Birds are flying - Round and round
Seeking food - Where none is found
Thursday afternoon
Near the bridge - Between the ponds
Towering column - Angel stands
High above - Crown in hand
Shinning bright
Thursday afternoon
A ray of hope - To some maybe
But not to me today
Melancholy sits with me
I dance in misery
Thursday afternoon
Despair, embraces me once more
We cry, we weep, we drown within
The cup of sorrow’s tears
We sup
Thursday afternoon
My back so sore - My minds a twirl
My heart is racing - My head it aches
My neck is sore - My eyes are blurred
Tears they flow so free
Thursday afternoon
Thoughts of death - Pain within
Tortured soul and mind
Thus I drown within myself
I shiver in the cold
Thursday afternoon
My eyes turn upward
The sun doth shine
The Angel sparkles
Hope is there
Thursday afternoon
Up on my feet - I walk once more
I take a step, I don’t look down
Hope’s given birth once more
Now Faith is born
Thursday afternoon
