John Quixote

When Don Quixote rode into the pages of history
He left a seed that soon would grow

A world of windmills, princesses, whores
A world of wonderous magic bright

Laughter is the best medicine they say
As Patch Adams shows so well

Another chose that knightly road
On Booksie we did meet

THE GREAT QUIXOTE, JOHN his name
A master of pure wit

His words did lift the sagging heart
From darkness grasp he freed

When down and feeling low in heart
His words did lift me up

He took a subject drab and drear
He twisted it around

Tears of laughter soon would flow
As his magic pen did work

His world of endless humour bright
Shone though my dismal day

The clouds of darkness disappeared
The sun came shinning through

Countless numbers he inspired
His words like seeds did sprout

Showing forth the blossoms sweet
To scent the weary heart

Dear John has left this world alas
But yet his words live on

In countless thousands who have read
His works of endless mirth

I know he’ll live on in my heart
I remember his great wit

To see the world in such a way
A Gift from God above

He lit the world a candle bright
As magic flowed through him

A gift like that he could not keep
He shared with one and all

So here a glass of finest brew
I toast his wondrous pen

To John Quixote King of Wit
We’ll miss you, oh dear John

But you will never be forgot
Your words live on in us!
