Pathetic: the first word that comes across her mind when she thinks of herself.
She holds on as if there is some hope. She clings onto this notion that it can happen, it can work out in the end. Yet, deep down in her soul she knows that truth…there isn’t. So why thing still clings around her heart, making it heavier and heavier with each passing thought; she doesn’t know. It chokes her, making it so that she can’t seem to find her breath or swallow. His hands clasp around her throat just waiting for that last bit of hope to die.
Letting go seems to not be an option for her…how can she? The same man who kills her slowly is the same man that she can’t let go of...the same man that seems to take tear away at her soul with every intention to destroy it.
“I can’t…but why?”
This same question pries away at her mind day and night. It’s a ghost that haunts her in her sleep; that hovers over her and won’t let her be free. She’s too weak to fight back…she always was too weak. She could never fight back against this creature.
He sucks away at her very life, but it wasn’t always like this. He was once the very beat of her heart; the very air she once breathed in; her life source. His voice, so sweet and tender, hid his true self. The thought of his touch still sends chills down her spine. The thought of his kiss makes her heart skip a beat and the notion of lying next to him, makes her melt.
He’s her kryptonite.
Yet, when those thoughts and memories shift through her mind, her heart drops and a nauseating feeling over comes her. Her disgust for him over powers her love. She drifts back to how it all was…

He rode into her life on his white steed; he was her dream come true. For everyone has found this person or created this prince out of a beast. He swept her off her feet and carried her away into the sunset. She was never one to be so taken away by a man before. She thought she knew better. She couldn’t resist him; his words would melt into her heart. He knew what to say to her to make her fall under his spell. His touch would entrance her and his kiss would seal her love. It felt almost too good to be true, and it was. Unexpectedly the beast came out…
The words that once melted her heart suddenly became daggers that tore and shredded her heart apart.
She didn’t want to believe it.
The arms that once protected her were now throwing her to the beasts. She was left there, alone to be devoured. The kiss that sealed her loved now acted as a poison that began to kill her slowly. His poison seeped in slowly. She couldn’t feel it killing her from the inside out. It clouded her judgment and blinded her vision. She was a fool; it’s as simple as that.
He tore away at her body, mind and soul.
She gave him everything…all of her and all he did was destroy it.

So there she sits now, lonely again tonight reliving it again and again. Trying to figure out how this had happened; how she couldn’t have seen this coming.
Was she that much of a fool?
Had he played it so well?
Yes, he did.
But wait, why should she let him get the best of her? The past happened and there’s nothing to do but accept it and learn…right? She wanted to believe it; she truly did.
How could she deserve this? How could she have this coming?
Where did she go wrong?
No, no, no she’s not the beast in this story. He did this to her…all she ever did was give him everything.
No more, no more lies, no more daggers and no more him.
Pathetic: the definition of him.
