Numerous times I've been accused of being a 'feel good, god-musician' (most of the time, by people who don't know me, or my music, at all). I wrote this song because I honestly feel that being a Christian (or really, a person of any faith) isn't all roses and fantabulousness. Life is life, and it sucks sometimes. It's got a nasty habit of knocking us on our butts, kicking us, laughing, and walking away. Sometimes it feels like God isn't there. That the shadows around you are too much. But it's the shadows that remind us - sometimes - that there has to be a light to cast them. I take comfort in the fact that He's there, even when I can't see Him. Even when He doesn't seem close - and for me lately, that's been the norm, not the exception. So yeah, /end rant. I hope you enjoy. Leave feedback, I'd really appreciate it.

So where did you go
When I stopped understanding
The goodness of you
In context of everything
That I’ve come to bear
The scars that don’t show
Are buried inside me
And I just don’t know
How much I can take
Well I know you’re still there
But if I could see you
I know it’d be easier
To believe...

And where did you go
When all of these hurricanes
Upset what I knew
And friends became enemies
I was left all alone
With no one to turn to
And nothing to do
So I can't take much
And I doubt you're still there
But if I could see you
It might just be possible
To believe again...

But it's the shadows cast by your love
That tell me your real
That show me you're there
And in the valley, when death closes in
I cry out to you
And you meet me where
I am...

Where did you go
When all of my demons came
They dragged me through hell
And then brought me back again
I was bitter and cold
I hated the world
So where were you then?
Well I've taken enough
And I don't think you're there
This darkness it blinds me
And it just isn't logical
To believe again...

It's the shadows cast by your love
That tell me your real
That show me you're there
And in the valley, when death closes in
I cry out to you
And you meet me where
I am

A sinner, lost in your grace
Like a maze wound around
Your infinite embrace
When the world's at it's blackest
Your love can shine through
All the dark in me...

It's the shadows cast by your love
That tell me your real
That show me you're there
And in the valley, when death closes in
I cry out to you
And you meet me where
I am
