I

On a rain filled September morn’

An old man shuffles along a cobblestone road,

With battered hat upon his weary brow,

A soggy soul of a life lived

Through that of work and nothing’ more

II

A life filled with regretful thoughts

And darkened dreams of loneliness,

Due to hidden heart

Love is lost never to be known,

As once it was, when heart and body were young and strong

With unknowing eagerness of what love or lust may hold
