What Are These Words?

These words are my ladder. To where, I dont know.

I can only climb in search of hope.

Around me I see ropes, a more challenging climb,

Yet at every attempt, the knot unbinds,

And I fall.

These words are my wings, yet I am scared to fly.

I stand on this branch as the cool air flows by.

I leap and I push on that invisible force,

As it fills my lungs, I fly, and then remorse,

And I fall.

These words are my weapons, loaded and cocked.

I am full of courage as they prepare to be shot.

I squeeze the trigger, the blast! Then I yell!

Because at that point I realize, I am aiming at myself.

And I fall

This time, I fear, never to rise again.
