August didn't spend a lot of time thinking about how he was able to acquire his extraordinary mind ability. The logical conlusion was his brain. He supposed that if he ever wanted to have some kind of study done on him, he would go through with it. He believed that out of every medical test that was availabe, not one would be able to produce any kind of definitive results. Besides, he loved all the mystery of it. He did not care how he had been given this incredible gift. The only thing that mattered was he had mind power, and he knew how to use it and stabilize it. The fact that everyone he ever knew, or would meet, including his family, would always fear what he was capable of. Unbeknownst to all of them, though, was he never intended to use his power to hurt anyone. He liked that they would always be afraid, and that feeling gave him all the confidence he would ever need. He thought of his power as being a bonus. He might not always need to use it, but if a time ever came where he had to use it to protect himself, he would not hesitate for a second to do so. Deep down he hoped that he wouldn't have to use it to hurt someone, but having something and not needing it was a lot better than needing it and not having it.

August was aware that he had followers. He could not see them, at least not yet, but he sensed that they were nearby. He could feel their gaze going right through him. He resisted the temptation to look around or walk at a quickening pace. He wanted to give off the impression that he wasn't a threat, and if there was to be any instigation by anyone, it wouldn't be from him. He was passing a jagged pile of large boulders that rose maybe 30 feet from the ground. He could see the people in his mind hiding behind them. Never in his life had he felt more brave and unafraid then he did now. He stopped, then peered directly at the boulders. "Alright come on out." He said with an unwavering tone. He waited a few minutes, then spoke again. "I won't say it again. Come on out." A few more minutes passed, and when noone emerged from the boulders, August separated them, creating a narrow valley about 10 feet wide. Finally, an old man and woman began to walk toward him. They looked terrified, as they had a right to be. August waited patiently for one of them to say something. The old man surveyed him up and down. "Who are you?" He asked. His voice was gurgly and raspy. "My name is August." He knew they did not share his powers. They simply stared at each other. The couples growing angst being in his presence was mounting. "What is this place?" August asked. The couple exchanged a wondering look, then the woman said, "Black Planet." The name fit the environment. They exchanged another look. "You're a mind mover?" The old man asked him. August simply said, "Yes." Then the couple turned and started to walk away. "Wait. Where are you going?" Asked August. The old woman replied, "Leave this place, mind mover. If you don't, you will die." Then they disappeared back behind the boulders. He wasn't going to leave, but even if he wanted to, he couldn't. He wasn't aware that as of right now, he would never see Earth again. Black Planet. That's a name he could have picked himself. Senile old people. Yeah, we was going to die. Funny joke. And at the moment of that thought, the burning red sky was occupied with massive, fire spraying dragons. Where the hell did they come from? There were 30, maybe 40 of them, and they all carried black figures on their backs. Maybe those old folks were not so senile after all.
