Just another thing that I have speculated about that questions the type of person you really are. Would you kill if you had to?

Would you kill another human being to save your own life? Now don't get hasty and answer right away. I know what a lot of people will answer. They will say yes. Without hesitation, they will reply that they would do it. But just for fun, give it serious thought.

What does a killer look like? Noone knows. Noone on this planet knows who is capable of murder. The one thing that noone knows about themselves is whether or not they are able to kill. If a single person is never put into a situation where they had to kill to save themselves, the answer to the question will never be known. What would they do? What would you do?

Even if you killed someone in self defense, how would that change your life? It is said that once you have taken another life, you are never the same. It changes you. It affects you for the rest of your life. Just for kicks, who has wondered what it feels like to kill someone? It's not wrong to think this way. It doesn't make you a bad person. It's just out of curiosity.

If you had to kill someone to save yourself, would you do it? I know you are saying yes. But truthfully, you will never know until it happens to you

Thoughts to ponder on. I think that would have to be an answer in the situation a person is in.
I will keep my answers to myself on the grounds they may incriminate me. (haha just kidding!)

They will not incriminate you. What would you do, Ana? I won't think any less of you as a person. Thanks for the comment

In my honest opinion I think this. I am almost sure that if I were in that situation all other things aside I do not believe I can take another life. I am not sure what to say other than have I ever had any desire to kill someone. No but I have hated and hatred can lead to anything I suppose. IT is like that musical Chicago in a sense. When those women were talking about killing their husbands for having affairs. Those women felt justified. They felt trapped with anger and jealousy. I think they call them crimes of passion. SO I suppose anything is possible.

Not even if your own life was in danger you still wouldn't do it? If it was just you and another person in a life ending situation, and only one of you will live, you still couldn't take that life? That is a very bold thing to say. But I admire your courage and good nature. You are pure in the heart

I kind of feel like I know myself well enough to know that I am capable of murder. I landed myself in therapy because of it.
I'm much more in control now, but i do not have enough respect for humanity to say "no, I could never kill anyone."
If it came to I or any of my friends lives, I would take someone elses to save mine, or theirs. That's just who I am.
I do not believe that you can put a value on life. but I value MY life more than anything or anyone else, and so it would only make sense to be able to do anything for that life.
Just my thoughts. I sound unusually cruel, but you wanted an honest opinion.
Thanks for the Though-provoking idea,
cursedheart

Thank you so much for offering your opinion. I don't think you sound cruel, but your right. Few things are more valuable than your life. I'm with you. I think I would do it. The right to live, and stay alive, is a huge thing to defend. Thank you for reading

Well it is a me thing I suppose. I just know me I am probly more of a coward. I think I got confused on the question. I thought you were asking like perhaps this scenario.

Me and you in a room and someone told me to take your life to defend mine. Would I? No because I could not live with myself for taking an innocent life.

But if you are saying if I am in a room and a someone was about to kill me. If I had a way to defend myself I so would. I think we all would to some degree. But I would also have to make sure I could not get out of the situation any other way.

I would like to hear what you would do..
Take Care,
Ana

Well thank you so much for your opinion. It's complicated once you think about it and go over all the scenarios. I would take a life if I had to. Every person has as much right to live as the next person. But again you never know what you would do until you are placed in that scenario.

My life was in danger and I was so mad at the time i thought I could. YES TRULY!

I was sitting astride the 'offender' - chef's knife held high above his throat, and I couldnt do it. I got off him and let him sleep his drunken stupor off.

Fight for my life - yes frequently. I fought back, but could never kill.

And now.....have I changed, no. If anything I would rather die before I harmed another.

Thank you for your opinion. It really is a wild thing to think about. What would someone do?

i think it's an interesting question. i don't think anyone really knows what they are/aren't capable of. it's like those people you hear about who start to empathize with their kidnapper/rapist/abuser because they only want to survive and they realize that to survive can sometimes mean accepting what's happening to you and then hopefully getting out of the situation later on. i dunno what i'd do. it's like being in a crazy situation. you never know what you would do until you're in it. i think there are too many differentials to factor in. what caused you to be in danger? where are you? who are you with? are there others in danger? you know, i would never knowingly kill a person who wasn't putting me in immediate danger. i could never do that. but i don't know if i could say i wouldn't do it if i was going to kill or be killed. i guess it's all circumstantial. i'd like to think i wouldn't be capable of killing....but, you never know...

I'd like to think I would be capable of killing. You never know when it will be the only thing that could save you. Thanks for your opinion. I have gotten some very differentiating comments on this. But you're right. You never know

I would have to say that we do not ever truly know what we would do in these extreme situations until we are faced with them. I for one had always said that I would never be stupid enough to run into a burning building. I wound up eating those words and did exactly that in order to save my daughter. Thankfully I did and we were not injured with the exception of a weak immune system for breathing in so much smoke.

So would I kill in porder to save my own life... I would have to say I simply don't know.
