The sun went away

Was replaced by gray

Birds ceased their song

To my dismay

I was deflated

No longer elated

Dreariness had settled in

Depression it created

I unfolded the lawn chair

That hid under the stairs

It creaked upon opening

How long had it been there?

To the roof I went

Without being sent

It would be my sanctuary

My shape would not be bent

I set the chair down

And looked around

The rain was coming

But not my frown

Up here I am free

To sit and see

The world is at my disposal

Don't want its company

The day darkens

And so I harken

To the stillness and the quiet

Not even dogs are barking

I close my eyes

And to no surprise

The rain begins to fall

On my solitary high rise

I can't help but wonder

Amid the rumbling Thunder

Why June brings Rain

And makes me slumber
