He can’t escape them. They’re always present, always there. They’re beside him, in front of him, in back of him, everywhere. Haunting over him in a dark presence. He wants them gone. Why won’t they stop following him?

There’s one escape though. Her. She has beautiful eyes, a smile and a laugh. She’s a utopia in this harsh world...she is the one of his dreams. The only one he could truly love.

She looks straight at him, but looks right through him, but that’s all right. Just as long as he can see her, hear her, that’s enough for him. It doesn’t hurt…

He runs from his past, hides from his demons. He’s not the same man anymore. He’s a better man now. He’s lied, but he doesn’t lie anymore.

He knows he should’ve told her, but he couldn’t see what was right in front of him. Too caught up in the past, trying to rid himself of his past to see the future.

He prays to god for help. He wants to take it all back. He’s lost her to another, now all he has are the memories of joy that are now simply faded images. He begs god for relief, but receives none…

He can’t escape them. They’re always present, always there. They’re beside him, in front of him, in back of him, everywhere. Haunting over him in a dark presence. He wants them gone. Why won’t they stop following him? Because of her.

The days fade together. He does nothing but think of her. He only wonders when the day is going to be done so he can escape into the next.

The things he never got to tell her. The things he felt. How much he loved her, adored her. How he dreamed of someday telling her. They were right there but slipped right away.

He tries to tell himself that she was nothing, but he knows that’s a lie. He tries to force himself to believe the words he tells himself, but he can’t anymore. He can’t lie to himself any longer.

His lies can’t be told to others. They simple shake their heads and gaze upon him with utter pity, and sometimes he feels a twinge of pain. If he were weaker, he’d crumple, but he doesn’t. But in the end, everything must fall.

Please help me…I lost her. I lost her…she was the only thing that mattered. Please, give her back…I miss her. Please! Why can’t you hear me? I don’t want to see her cold body anymore…I close my eyes and I see it. Please save me from these memories. I don’t want them. I want to have her back! GIVE HER BACK!

No one hears the bang of the gun at midnight. No one hears the final cries of a man tortured by the woman he loved unconditionally. No one realized his pain. All he had left were shadows. He’s with the shadows now…he’s happy…
