Summary

Time is important. It is more important with love, because time decides whether there's a happy ending or not. Enjoy!

You Sit, I Laugh. Tick-Tock

By H.F

Tick-Tock. The rhythm of a clock
The tick of the clock is the part where you sit
In your favorite rocking chair, leisurely, mindlessly
Yes. Mindless of me
It is still the sound of the tick of the clock that annoys me
Reminding me of you, sitting, doing nothing
Thoughts unprocessed, speech unnoticed
Because a word from you never being uttered
The exquisite pair of your green eyes fixating on two birds
Perhaps one a male and one a female?
Are they any different from us?
Perhaps for them the tick of the clock is nonexistent
They are naturals
But we, the tick becomes a problem
I am tired. I am tired because it’s always you.

The tock of the clock is my part
My part to be happy
To be happy without you
The tock, the most anticipated part of the clock
I laugh. And laugh. But not alone
I laugh with others, those I care about
Friends? Yes, friends. Not a playboy. Not even a busboy
You are not my witness, but I am your witness
I laugh while you sit
I laugh because I am having a good time…of my life.
No. Wait! I take that back. What I truly meant is…
No. I just wish the tick and tock of the clock were equal

Are they any different from us? The birds? But they’re animals!
Wait! We are animals, right?
Forget it! I am tired. I am tired.
I may have more than one. Tomorrow. Maybe after tomorrow
You can’t help me. It is your fault.
But I never give up. I still leave the tick of the clock going
You know I can’t ignore the tock, right?
It’s what keeps this tie robust between us
How about resetting the clock?
How about tock first, then tick second?
Or tick then tock? Tick and tock? Tick-tock?
No matter what the order, I still love you.
I still love you. Tick-tock. Tick-tock. Tick…tock!
