Cradled in my Daddy’s arms

I always felt at ease

But why was it my mother

Never wanted to hug me?

The boys she seemed to love

But I wasn’t free from scorn

She never showed me any love

Treated me like a thorn

For a long time I harboured guilt

And blamed myself a lot

But I have realized it was never my fault

Because maternal she was not

My step mother, Angela

Angel by heart, angel by name

She loved me like I was her own blood

And treated me the same

Sometimes blood isn’t thicker than water

As proof of my life story

Though I consider that beautiful woman as my real mother

And with my father she shares equal in the glory.
