A short ramble illustrating my thoughts about love.

Art by adollable

it’s a journey,

it’s a sense so down-to-earthy,

it’s a gift bestowed before thee,

it’s a fight to win the tourney,

it’s a march from low-to-high knee,

it’s a ride along the red sea,

it’s a broken lock and snapped key,

it’s a case for all attorneys,

it’s the cries of pain and loud pleas,

it’s the wailing of the banshee,

it’s a fire from the blazed tree,

it’s a thing that can’t get angry,

and with that,

I can see

that love is not for me.

This is quite a playful poem with a lot of truth to it. Although, that last line is disheartening.

I wanted to be blunt. I hope people find the harsh truth to be relatable even though others may find it to be completely unrelatable.

Started off nicely, but veered at the middle and ended badly. Some love affairs end this way, but, by far, most of them end will - even lasting for decades. We've been married for 52 years, and intend on a having a lot more happiness coming our way in the form of great-grandchildren. It is a crapshoot, but the dice are loaded in favor of that happiness. !Tom

I feel like a person's opinion about love is very dependent on their first interaction with it. If it ends badly, they think badly about it. Same goes for if they start off well. I've yet to experience it and I probably won't until I'm out of high school, but right now I'm completely open to it. Also felt like doing something a bit more sour and sad for a change, keep up the variety. More positivity to come, though, I've been in a really awesome mood lately :D

It's short and funny and AWESOME. I'm not much into poetry, but I must praise one that is amazing as yours. Loved the rhymes and literally everything :)

D'awww, thank you! That's so nice of you to say. Poetry's really awesome, but I too prefer short stories. Thank you for the read, Smith!

unmasked delusions

ha- this was funny yet it has a serious undertone that I could relate to. I feel this way sometimes even if not all the time. I like what you did with the rhyming and as the others said- I like how it was playful. Good work

Funny and serious sounds good to me. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate the comments!

Melancholic Wisdom

On the surface it appears lighthearted but it has some dark and serious undertones. The things you say in here are very very true. The rhyming is again always really good (wish I could be as good at it, ah need to practice). The type of destructive love you talk about, seems like that's all I experience haha. I enjoyed the playfulness, as others have said. You are very blunt here, and I like that, because everything you do say is true. Great work as always bro, you're one of my favorites on here (and probably one of the best, hopefully I'll be as good as you are one day). Always a pleasure to read your work.

If one of the two of us is better at rhyming, it's you. I appreciate the praise and comments. It's a weird feeling knowing that I'm someone's favorite... I'm seriously honored and humbled :) Many many thanks.

Oh my gosh! Ahhhhhhhhh! Do not dare to write such a thing, we are lovers not fighters- love is for everyone! (did that sound extremely hippie to anyone else?) Aside from that fact, I love the picture{:)} and the poem, beautiful...

Love IS for everyone; I wanted this to be in the POV of somebody heartbroken who just split up with someone. They think they've lost hope but there's still some light. Glad you liked it!
