Who really lurks in the depths of the internet?

Subject: liveD_303? by MichelleAnne4

Hello all, has anyone heard of a user by the name of liveD_303? I’ve seen him on quite a few of the popular YouTube channels preaching religion, he’s always the top comment, always has the same like count of 303? There are also really weird replies on his comments. I just want to check to see if something is wrong with my computer

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

yuuup. most recently i saw him on a markiplier video. he's everywhere, though. something has to be up with that because i don't see an explanation as for why the like count doesn’t change.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by MichelleAnne4

Ok thank goodness! I thought I was going insane lol! Are you able to respond either? And are you seeing the replies? I’m just looking for further assurance that I’m not crazy haha

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

i don't have the ability to respond, no. the replies for me are always at 66 and they all say “No matter the cause.” i’m confused as well, maybe we should look more into him. i hope some others stumble onto this thread because another set of eyes could be useful.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by lordfirthum

Ive seen his comments as well. He only has three videos up and they also show patterns. There are 16 likes, no dislikes, a steady number of views in the thousands for each, and 666 comments all saying No matter the cause. All the 6s arent boding well for this guy. Also his profile picture? Its giving me the heebie jeebies.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by MichelleAnne4

His profile image scares me. It’s like some photo from my childhood or something, I swear I’ve seen it before when I was really little or something.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

it’s a photo of my grandfather in the military. i just asked my mother to confirm.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by lordfirthum

There is something very very wrong. Its a picture of a christmas party my family had years ago before I was born. I remember seeing it in an album. Who do we call about this?

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

i don’t know. nobody would believe us, we don’t have proof. the picture of my grandfather went missing years ago. how is the picture different for all of us?

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by lordfirthum

I just called my mom to find the picture of my family to send to me and it’s not in the album anymore. She said thats the only spot in the whole album thats missing a picture and she hasnt touched the album in years. I think she called the cops but they wont know what to do

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

i’m trying to request a conversation with someone at youtube concerning this and i’m getting an error message.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by MichelleAnne4

Guys, my YouTube account was suspended yesterday for “bullying and abuse”. I haven’t used it in months??

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

mine as well.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by lordfirthum

Who is doing this? I’m going to direct message this guy and see what happens because I really cant deal with this at the moment. I upload videos to my channel regularly and if this has anything to do with him then hes in HUGE trouble

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

i’ve tried all indirect contact with liveD_303 (commenting on his videos, liking them, subscribing, etc.) and nothing works. i keep getting errors. i’m terrified to direct message him.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by MichelleAnne4

@lordfirthum, did he respond?

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

if lordfirthum doesn’t respond then that probably means liveD_303 isn’t replying. i went to try to contact the police but my phone isn’t getting service. my home phone won’t work, despite being plugged in. i can’t leave my apartment; the door is locked and my key isn’t where it usually is. the lights won’t work. my emails aren’t sending. this is essentially the only contact i’m able to have with people at this point. something is horribly wrong.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by MichelleAnne4

I’m locked in too. I swear, my mind is playing tricks on me. I know I put the key on my bedside table. That's always where I put it. It hurts not being able to call my mom. I’m just praying someone stops by my door and unlocks it or the power comes back on because there aren’t windows in my house to climb out of.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

there aren’t windows in my apartment, either.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by MichelleAnne4

I still have internet access somehow. The only things I’m able to access are this site and his YouTube channel. I’m gonna try some things to see what works until someone comes to help

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

whose youtube channel? i can only see liveD_303’s videos. it’s allowing me to subscribe now and i don’t have much choice anymore in what to do. my fridge and pantry are running out of food. the electricity is still out.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

michelle??? i’m out of food, something is horribly wrong. i keep hearing screams in my head. i check the peephole to my door expecting to see something but there’s just nothing out there. i’m beginning to starve. there’s no running water. there’s nothing left. please, michelle? am i going insane? the screams keep telling me to hide. if anyone else is reading this forum please respond.

Subject: Re: liveD_303? by martin_mackleback

No matter the cause.

Highly original and brilliant. It's good to see writers breaking the traditional structure for a story. It's one of those ideas that I wish I'd thought of. Great work, hanorbi

Such high praise as usual from you, Chris. Personally, I think you would've written the story better. Thank you for the comment and for reading, as I always say, it means the world to me. :)

Excellent idea to make a story put of forum comments. It's scary and unsettling. The "religion" this guy was preaching is something like the Borg ideology in Star Trek - erasing personalities and turning everyone into identical machines, a truly devilish idea if there ever was one. Good work!

Interesting comparison. I wanted the entire nature of liveD_303 to be mysterious and unsettling. The origins of his character in my mind require him to have those characteristics. He could be erasing their personalities, he could be replacing them, he could be deleting them completely - who knows. Thank you for reading, Oleg; I love your insights.

I liked this! I especially liked that it was in comment style. Creepy; I'd be terrified of that happened to me; I'm a big scaredy cat though.

Are you kidding, I would be so terrified... especially since there isn't really any other option except for directly contacting the dude. Everything just screams bad news. Thanks for stopping by and reading, Lex, I appreciate it. :)

Very scary post, hanorbi, considering I've been getting comments on my work from someone who never leaves a comment, just keeps asking me to email them. It's obviously a scam. At first, I deleted them, but this morning there was a couple more, so I replied, "I'm not going to send you my address, so stop asking." It scares me to even reply through Booksie, but I'm getting angry. Just another step to the situation you're describing.

Are you talking about hellen? She/he commented on a work of mine as well. Instantly deleted it. Rumors are going around claiming them to be a Nigerian scammer - I'm starting to believe that. That's such a creepy coincidence that that has been happening around Booksie, and then I wrote this story without connecting the dots... Thanks for giving it a read, Mike.

I agree with Chris, it's great to see you experimenting with different writing structures, and you executed it really well, what with each character having their own personalities and writing styles.

The story was very clever. While I have read something similar before, the way you kept the mystery and slowing heightened the stakes and increased the tension, and including the concepts of religion and the unknown, kept it original and made it your own. You have a great imagination, yet at the same time keep it in line ensuring consistency and a very satisfying end.

I particularly enjoyed the part about the image they saw, each relating to their own lives, and as such I would have liked a bit more development on that. How do the characters connect? Why are they seeing these particular images unique to them? Another thing is I'd like to have a tad more information on the motive of Lived. I understand you like the keep the mystery, but I think just a little bit more reveal could give more impact at the end.

The only other criticism is minor and I'm not too sure about it, but there's the part where lord goes missing, and Martin says is probably just because LiveD isn't reply, but then he goes on to say he's tried to call the police and all these strange things are going on, I don't know, it just didn't seem to fit.

Other than that, this was a very full, cleverly crafted tale and I enjoyed it a lot. You continue to impress, and I wish I could be as prolific as you.

No matter the cause.

Have you ever read Candle Cove? I loved the format of that story so much, thought about writing a story like that a while ago, and finally just recently got around to doing it. That story was absolutely horrifying and I wanted to replicate that sense of horror through forum posts in my own way.

I contemplated revealing the true identity of liveD_303, but I thought the name was a bit of a giveaway. Simply read it backwards and it might be clearer. ;)
Knowing who he is, in my eyes, gives plenty of information about him.

I should've prolonged the chaos in the homes a bit more, I agree. Maybe have them begin to question if liveD is the one doing it all to them, creating a sense of paranoia in the story... Thank you for such an insightful comment. I hope you've been doing okay, too. Haven't seen you in a bit. :)

We will rise.

Wow. I really loved this story in that it actually creeped me out. Nothing I've read has been able to do that for awhile. The ending was great. Nice idea and very creative writing.

Okay... I'm freaked out! Hahq. A good horror piece, although I hate technology based horror films, you did a great job. Your messages were very realistic, good momentum and very scary throughout. A talented piece of writing and very effective in scaring your readers! :p Thanks for sharing, ZB!

Thank you, zany! I'm glad you enjoyed, despite not being a huge fan of technological horror. The goal was to freak everyone out with a genre like this, seems I succeeded. :p Much appreciated!

My friend actually had this happen to her in a way. She was on YouTube and some guy subscribed to her. She subscribed back and he went and liked all her videos, commented, "Lovely video" on all of them, and kept messaging her. He turned out to be some deranged, old man. He managed to find out where she lived and when she got home he was in her house. I was the first person she called... he ended up killing himself in her bathroom after he made her cook him dinner. I love this story because as crazy as it sounds, which it does sound completely insane, it also has a tiny bit of truth sprinkled in between the lines. Amazing piece, Hanorbi!! *Blows kisses*

That's horrific! I'm sure glad your friend wasn't the one being hurt, even though suicide isn't very nice either. It's incredibly weird that you managed to have such a similar personal connection. I never thought someone would with a story like this. Thank you, Suz :)

I don't really watch or subscribe to very many YouTube channels but the creepy factor of this was very real. I feel like only one thing I'd change is maybe at the time and dates of the messages, since the switch from "I'm locked in my apartment" to, "I'm starving" seemed a bit abrupt. I just knew something was going on with all the 6's though, hah. Yikes. Nicely written, H! Though I do not appreciate the cliffhanger! It's like, there's screaming in my head to hide- and then nothing, ah!!!

I wanted to add times and dates next to the submission names, but I haven't had enough experience with online forums to do that well. The last thing I wanted was for it to be unrealistic, as horror is all about realism. I love and hate cliffhangers - love to write them, hate reading them! :p
Thank you so much, Keeks!

Incredibly original. I can honestly say that I have not seen this style of writing used for a short story before. You pulled it off in excellent fashion. Very good!

I quite liked how I organized this story, so I may go for some more untraditional work in the future. It's fun playing around with new styles. Thank you again, Ronin!

Interesting. The mystery lives on. Unfortunately, I don't think the Youtubers made it. :)
Quite a unique format you've gone with here, but you pulled it off.

Thanks, Jeff! I felt it fit the context of the story the best, and maybe added to the realism of it all. I'm sure all the Youtubers are gone now, soon to be replaced by a new crop of fresh souls ready to be devoured... ;)

Hello my friend, it's been too long. Hope all is well with you. As with everything you do, I've really enjoyed this piece, mostly because I have a habit of getting lost in the comment sections of various threads when I'm reading articles or whatnot, and this came across as very genuine and authentic. I liked the way it kept building and building, getting creepier and creepier and more intense the more it went on. Nice job, as always. See ya around - Jonah
