There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving
boyfriend. He was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend. It was close to Christmas, and she secretly dreamed to herself that it would be
the perfect time to get married.
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend.
Her boyfriend asked her, "now that you can see the world, will you marry me?" The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, scrawny as a rail from his long but young life of depression which was eating up inside him. She saw he was not as hansom as all the other chiseled jawed, muscular, pretty boy guys she could now see all around her... but plain, and refused to marry him.
Her boyfriend walked away in tears, stumbling through the dark night crying out in his precious, bitter tears that made up his now broken heart. He carelessly veered off course of the dirt path shortcut through the park back to his lonely little apartment and soon came upon a dark bottomless river. Though he could not see it, he heard the violent rushing of the rapids and the banging of large chunks of ice bashing up against the jagged rocks of the riverbank. His parents had taken him to the very same river many times as a little boy, back when he was not so blind and his sight wasn't so bad. He remembered his family telling him not to get to close to the edge, and he remembered that there was once a metal bar that had warned people of the sudden 50 foot drop into the river. A few years afterword's, they tore the fence down to set up a bridge...which the park owners never finished.
He took out his wallet from his back pocket, ripped out a blank check and wrote a simple scrawled note to the best of his advantage on the back. Feeling around the ground around him, he placed the note in plain sight on top of his wallet and weighed it down with a simple flat slate rock and threw the pen beside it. In despair, he ran into the direction from his memory and plunged over the edge before breaking through the thin ice, crushing his skull against the jagged rock before drowning as he lost consciousness.
The next morning, when they found his frozen, badly battered head, they found his wallet with the wrinkled up note from the nights rain still plastered on top. The note was badly scribbled out in vain, but still eligible to make out.
It was for the poor blind guys ex girlfriend. In the note he wrote a last letter to her saying..... "Just take care of my eyes dear." I'll always love you forever..." and inside his wallet, another worn crumpled note he had written to her asking his eyes to be donated to her back when his girlfriend was still blind. He had written it originally as a suicide note because he was going to kill himself before he found his girlfriend had made her promise of "marrying him if she got her sight back." After he heard of her promise he put off the suicide hoping his beloved would change her mind and marry him anyway, blind or not.
He had waited all that time in vain and died with a broken heart.
