I feel the heat-It christens me,

Like napalm to my lungs.

My eyes are blind-The fault is mine,

For staring at the sun.

My body aches-I’ve got the shakes,

But how was I to know?

If I closed my eyes-I’d keep my sight

And still bask in its glow.

But that’s the fault with beauty,

It demands your eyes to see,

Stealing their gaze-from wherever it’s placed,

Jealous of the scene.

It then proceeds to burn you,

To stay married with your soul,

Its vanity is addicting-for those too jejune to know.
