Let me paint a portrait, one of a grassy scene.
Where we may lay a blanket,
Against an old log, we may lean.
Let there be woods behind us, Oaks that cast a shade.
To our fore, a bubbling creek,
That only God could have made.
May there be a wooded hill, An old house that leans,
An old house that can tell a story,
That remembers, others dreams.
With the grass as high as the waist, Where we may run and play,
And chase away our problems,
At least for a day.
Let there be a basket, Woven from the reeds.
Filled with all kinds of goodies,
That’s just for you and me.
May we discover each other, As our souls lay entwined.
Let the woodland creatures see,
The love that we will find.
Overhead there be billowing clouds, that remind us of sails.
As we share this blanket,
Here, in this hidden dell.
Let me paint a portrait. Let’s hang it on the wall.
Making sure the support’s just right,
Else our dreams will fall.
