They had him on horseback,

His hands tied behind.

Want to say a prayer? We’ll give you time.”

The noose cut his throat,

It was hard to speak,

When the words were uttered, his voice was weak.

Said, “forgive me Lord,

For the things I’ve done.

That’s put my life, on the run.

My momma tried,

To teach me the Book.

But with a son like me, it never took.

This seed’s turned bad,

This branch, snarled and bent.

Trying to get away, from the prayers sent.

Forgive these men,

Their way is just,

To end my lawless days, they know they must.

I wished for a bullet,

This way is worse.

I dig in my spurs, high ya horse!!!”
