The Aussie Musketeers #2
We left our heroes, stand in the pub,
Or whatever they’re called down there.
Bruce was thinking, Len was sly,
The other looked like a bear.
There they stood, swapping tales,
Trying each on for size.
What the two thought Bruce was lacking,
Were in for a big surprise.
Hamp was curious, “What do we do?
Do we ride on the side of the law?”
Bruce nodded his head, “Now that’s an idea.
But only one little flaw.”
There was no need to question that.
For the law burst through the door
Cried, “We’re after you, Boomerang Bruce!”
He left them on the floor.
Faster than the click of that “mouse,”
The “twins” come in to play,
Never had the others known speed,
At least until that day.
Twin angled sticks sailed through the air,
They had never seen him draw.
Suddenly, they landed back in their homes,
Hamp said, “Don’t that beat all?”
Bruce ran to the door, “Are you coming with me?”
Instantly the others joined him outside,
They ran to a funny looking tree.
Bruce leaped on the back of a weird animal,
Like the others had never seen.
Had large back legs and little fronts.
And “doe” eyes looking mean.
Said, “This one’s mine, leave him alone,
From the others you can choose”
When Len asked what they were.
Bruce yelled back, “They’re roos’”
The old western saddles didn’t fit right,
But the two did their best.
A question as they hop into the sunset,
Will they pass the test?
The future unknown, who will they meet,
In this Australian land?
Hamp didn’t care who it was.
He wanted to return to the sands.
