The city was lit up, shining against the black sky. Racing through the streets, I leaned my head back against the seat. The wind blew my hair about, into my eyes and whipping across my face. The stereo was on full blast to "Angel in the Night."We weren't talking. For we knew what our conversation would lead to. The departure that was inevitable the day after.
So instead we drove out into the country and to the nearby town, down the highway and back. Eating cupcakes from the gas station and drinking 12 ounce bottles of pepsi. We listened to loud music, lip syncing parts to eachother. We got ice cream and coffee, and left the world behind to try and catch us. I couldn't recall a moment that we weren't smiling. That we weren't laughing and sharing funny things we had witnessed together.
.We drove around until dawn, until you could barely keep your eyes open. We exhanged hugs as you dropped me off at the house, parents already standing outside. We shared "I love you's,"Hiding the fact that we knew we would most likely never see eachother again, and that this was it. I watched you drive away, never looking back.
