I hope to wake up in a meadow someday,

a meadow where the sun will rise;

skies full of yellows, greens, and blues,

gorgeous colors with brilliant hues

that might light up my two brown eyes.

I hope to wake up on a beach someday,

a beach where the sun will set;

alone, the waves lightly glazing the sand,

no sound but the ones I imagine,

no voices but the one in my head,

my own,

where I might reach out and hold the light,

the bold brightness from the sun,

grasping it in my hand

before the sun is put to rest.

I hope to wake up in ice someday,

ice that’s showered with snow;

a cold wasteland that I can expand

with people and things on the land,

and I hope I’ll love it no matter the weather,

because it’ll be mine wherever I stand.

I hope to wake up in a forest someday,

a forest where the moon will glow;

where time might stop and flow,

each break in space a moment to grow

like the trees reaching up to the light of the moon,

hoping that someday they might be my own.

I hope to wake up in a world someday…

a world where my dreams might show,

where they rise,

sometimes set,

play in snow,

learn to grow,

and hopefully, in the end, when I can stand,

my dreams will finally glow.
