Just some of my opinions about religion.

I'm an Atheist. Which generally means that I don't believe in any religion. Now I'm not writing this just so I can bash religions. I am not here to say anything bad about them. I respect everyone's beliefs. But I can't help but think that there are certain flaws in religion that made me change from a Catholic into an Atheist. If you do not agree with my opinions, then that's fine. I am not asking you to like them, but just to think about them. For instance, in the Christian religion, or any kind of religion as far as I am concerned, does not accept homosexuals. I thought that God was supposed be loving of all his children. At least that is something that I was taught. This is not to say that all Christians or members of any kind of religion are homophobic, but there is that idea in religion that if a man lays down with another man that it's an "abomination". I just don't understand that. If those two people love each other, shouldn't they be allowed to do that.

Another thing is the Ten Commandments. We have all lied, stolen something, many people believe in other deities, we have all taken the Lord's name in vain once, and we sure as hell don't go to church every Sunday. Even when I was practicing Catholicism I didn't go to church every Sunday, and neither do my parents who are still practicing it. Does this mean these people all deserve to go to hell? Even if they did there best to be the best person they could be? That's another thing. If you do good deeds in life you supposedly go to heaven. I want to do good things because I want to, not because I have to. My brother is in a church youth group (which I went to before I became an Atheist) and they would have food drives. And I couldn't tell if they wanted to do it, or they just wanted to look good for the Lord. I know that seems a little harsh, but there are some people like that.

It is a sin to have sex before marriage. There is no fucking way anyone is practicing abstenence. At least not most people. I know people like that and they practice Christianity. I tell them that it's a sin to have sex before marriage, and they don't even know that it is a sin. I'm sure that people that know that are still doing it anyway.

And I think that the worst flaw of all, is the extreme violence that comes from religion. From the Crusades to the Holocaust. The cause of the Crusades was because the Muslims held control of Jerusalem, the supposed place where the second coming of Christ would take place, and the Christians wanted to have control of it. So a bloody war ensued leaving thousands dead. And religion played a major part in the Holocaust. 6 million Jews were killed from the year 1939-1945. 6 million out of 11 million. That makes a huge difference. Muslim Extremists will kill people just for making fun of the "prophet".

These are just my opinions, if you'd like you could share some of your own.
