The Morning Song

Temple gates have opened for its dedicated followers with the first morning light
Wake up my children, as they begin the new day by blessing the new age in sight

Saffron and vermilion powder is offered to the eastern Sun, who guards the gates there
Sandalwood scents from the incense of Rakshanagiri hills are perfumed everywhere
Cows and cattle after bestowing us with their milk have gone to bath in the lake nearby
After lighting the clay lamps, Grandma has now started praying and offering to the sky

Courtyard welcomes with sand-paintings from the colored creepers, dyes and flowers
Sweet tinkling sounds from the anklets of striving women linger in our senses for hours
Claps and hymns of the enthusiastic devotees can be heard from a temple somewhere
Bards and minstrels with their harps and lyres are advocating love, humanity and care

Drums and beats from the ceremony at town hall brings eager liveliness to the ears
Saints and sages are enchanting the seashores with prayers, chants and cheers
Charmed livestock follow the songs of nature coming from the flute of the shepherd
A poet's note inspires the nightingale on the peaks where the perfect fifth is unearthed

Listen to your devoted mother as she sings to you the enlightening morning song
Wake up my children and pray to the God for prevailing sensibility and to be strong
