the yellowing lace

falls off the edge of your

solemn, sweaty bed.

the yellowing bruises

on your legs as He watchesthem fall

clumsily, delicately

to the ground, as a shy blossom would.

pull at your yellowing night gown,

the same that your mother wore,

and wonder what it was like

when it was virgin white

on her legs

"surely her legs were not yellowing

such as yours are tonight"

you think as He grabs your

stick thick pale arm.
