little shy petal

knows she is not the prettiest bloom.

at least She is one.

but after days of wary loitering,

letting the breeze twirl with her, dance with impossible balletic feat

she remembers in a gasp;

the threat of being blown away, clean, into the baby bright sky

shy petal decides to stay.

meanwhile,

other petals, their blind belief

grope the daisy fresh twigs in search of the courage to

leap (one after the other)

from the tree and

glide

float

sink

plummet

towards all the other, brass blossoms

pooling on the spring's new carpet

like a puddle of your

warm

rose

blood

so shy petal was blown away

but it was not her, curdled and bloody knee'd on that fresh spring floor.
