Redemption
By Nur Jeevan Guna Segar
Sometimes redemption comes too late,
When the train is gone, there’s not another,
Sometimes redemption comes too late,
It knocks at the door when all we do is falter.
Tell me why redemption, so uncanny,
Comes a day later when we seek it?
Is it a fool’s treasure, redemption?
Nay, I say, it is but a willow’s song.
Tender, soft, and slow, it is,
Redemption is ever waiting to deal its blow,
Always a breath too late, or somehow lost,
Redemption breaths down our very brow.
Know this, my wayward one,
Redemption is always a minute too late,
It is never found in a songs tone,
Nay, it is all but lost, lost, until it’s too late.
Redemption, a sinner’s hope,
Redemption, a saint’s regret,
Redemption, the fool’s hour,
Redemption, our foolish flower.
