pretty straightforward poem, nothing fancy. Wasn't trying to achieve anything for anyone else - this just is and cannot be altered.

Don’t push the tears from the face I love
If you are ready to let them dry
Don’t raise the demons I bring on you
If you can brave it, and leave them lie

Don’t say you need me, if you can leave
And breathe, and smile, and grow and live
Don’t think I’d ever keep you here
When what you deserve is not what I give

Don’t ever think I can’t love you,
because you’ve moved on, and left me here
Don’t expect me to give, and hold on tight
or keep you and cage you selfishly

Don’t ever feel lost in the darkness of the world
because there’s someone who loves you madly
Don’t ever cry alone, or hide your fears
because there’s someone who’ll cradle you gladly

Don’t think, with your absence, these feelings will die
Or that you need to be here to tend them
Don’t worry about the wounds that I carried
The breaks have already mended

Don’t think I can’t see you, though you stand turned away
because you’re a living part of my heart
Don’t think it’s not a war you willingly face
If you decide another step is too far apart

But don’t let the horizon daunt you so
If to seek it is what you have chosen
And don’t turn around because I ask it of you
do it because you want to.
