The days you spent in bed

All alone, with nothing on your head

Never did you say how bored you were

And never did you turn your pain to anger

I’m proud of you

The days I held you as you shook

The days I consoled you on how you look

Never did you say this shouldn’t happen to me

And never did you say you were not happy

I’m proud of you

The days you lay withdrawn and weak

The days where you could barely speak

Never did you complain about your lack of hair

And never did you cry out in despair

I’m proud of you

Even when the end had come

And you were waiting for life to be done

All you said was don’t miss me when I’m gone

And even then your eyes still shone

I’m proud of you

And now on this rainy day

In the church putting you where you will lay

Where everyone is upset and crying

But I know you’ll just be happy that you’re flying

And that’s why I’m so proud of you
