You came back, darling, I cried not in vain,
We are together again; it’s not a dream;
Since you left my life has been only a scream,
Of sadness, grief, loneliness and pain;

Now that you are back, let’s ease our strain,
Let’s go for a walk in the park, eat ice-cream;
Let’s sit and watch the ducks in a stream,
And then let’s relax on a journey by train;

Darling, all these days that you’ve been away,
I came to learn that all my pleasures are lies,
And I realized that my joy is so faraway;

I’ve also learned, darling, from your sighs,
That your love is still at your heart’s doorway,
That when you are by my side your coolness dies.
