A very well-written story. I enjoyed reading it very much. You managed to keep the story moving throughout and brought the characters to life. Janet's love for her dead husband was touching. You brought forth the sentiments very well. And a great ending too. I am going to enjoy exploring your writing.

Oh dear oh dear. I would never want to keep you up past 1 AM! Well, I am on Booksie now drinking my first cup of coffee while the dog waits for his friends to arrive (getting more excited every minute) so I guess I'm the same! Booksie gets quite addictive, doesn't it?

Thu, July 23rd, 2009 4:45amI really enjoyed this story. Brilliant ending - I do like it when the villain gets his just desserts!! I look forward to reading your other stories.
Tue, October 13th, 2009 10:18pmSuch a beautiful story this was. Divine retribution.
Your story was cohesive, very unified and very fluid. So smoothly you write. Your descriptions so diligently allowed me to really create the world and picture everything. Your characterization was really well done especially considering this was a short story. I loved the ending, and through the way with wine and Janet leading him up to stairs, and the sudden blow to his head, I figured Janet was a con woman. But it works even better this way and that now he can't leave at all. Great to see Justice works.
You're a very talented woman. I envy your gifts in narration.
very good story. i like the way you write. i am working on 2 stories i created 10 yrs ago but im not yet ready to post. for now im just posting poems

Glad you liked it! But I don't think I'll write a sequel to Widow's Painting. The Poker Game, I might. The Diamond Earring I've often dreamed of turning into a novel. But I've got a novel in the works already, and for this one I'm going to try to find a traditional publisher. But I might put a sample chapter (or two) on Booksie. I'll see what happens.
Fri, January 14th, 2011 1:53amWow! W for wonderful, O for originality and the last W is for Winner!! That's all i can say! God bless!

I didn't see your ending, (with the broken neck), coming either!! It all happened so quickly at the end. Your story kept me involved from the opening line.
Sun, February 8th, 2009 4:49pmI look forward to future writing from you.
Happy days.....Jerry (*_*)
