\"What is it that's so romantic about red wine anyway?\" She asked with a sarcastic edge, but he could tell the question was partially serious. For a moment, he considered his response. She always expected developed answers to these silly questions.
\"Well, it's an expensive way to get drunk... Good dates are always expensive, and drunk people... well, you know.\" He shrugged nonchalantly, and she laughed.
\"I guess that makes sense,\" she said pensively. \"What about sunsets, then?\"
To this, his answer came much easier. \"Some painter or someone just thought they were 'pretty', and spawned a horrible cliche from it. One would think it would have gotten old by now, but I guess people aren't creative enough to come up with something new.\"
Again, she laughed. \"What do you propose instead?\"
\"I'm not sure, but I think the lack of anything is better than some half-baked attempt at romanticism.\"
She nodded. \"I always preferred sunrise, anyway.\" He could tell she had buried some meaning in those words, but couldn't bring himself to dig it out. They stared at each other for just short of what would have been awkward, before returning to regular conversation.
