CHAPTER 1- I HEARD A SCREAM...

"I have never been out this lately", I thought to myself, taking wider steps on the wet pavement. Sun was about to set and its last orange red gleams fell upon the path ahead of me and as I mentioned I had never been out of my home in that part of the day. Not exactly "my home", more like my Aunt and Uncle's home where I had been living since my parents gave me that last goodbye kiss on my forehead and retired from this cold world forever.

My aunt and uncle had only one son and so I thought, I don't know why I even thought that, just maybe if I really try I would be able to fill that gloomy void of solitude in my heart and I would get a happy family again. Tears used to wet my cold cheeks when I thought of that for that was still an unfulfilled desire lurking among many others which were all so deeply buried in my past. They always looked down upon me and were never happy as I was a mere burden on their shoulders that they wanted to shake off. So since the age of 11 I'd been obeying them obsequiously. What else could I do? Where else could I go? I was not allowed to leave the house nor was I allowed to study while Oliver, who was just a year older than me, received all the worldly wealth of his parents affection in his share. So that was how I had been living there for six years.

"Why on earth do they wanna buy bread in this part of the day?" I questioned to myself, scuttling towards the Railway Station.

I had been scampering for 15 minutes and with each minute of that walk I was growingpaler and more anxious. The only shops open after sunset were those of the Station. All the other shops were atleast 15 kilometers away from our house and I was indeed thankful that my aunt didn't send me there. Whooo! A sigh of relief.

Just as I was blaming my aunt in my head I happened to cross a sign board saying,"HAVE A SAFE JOURNEY". Something cold pressed upon my head. I always used to get a sick feeling looking at it. That was the farthest I'd ever been from home but today I had to go beyond that.

"Are you afraid Jamie? No you coward....you are stronger than this".

I was trying to muster up any courage left in me for I was not afraid of that desertedlooking haunted, dark, creepy Railway Station (which it was) though, but I had an ill feeling of something else. Something about which I had never heard anything good. Something whose mere name filled people's hearts with horror and dread that popped out of their faces as hot runny sweat. Something...that lied beyond that Railway Station. And just as I was recalling that, I heard something....that stopped my heart for a moment and a chill of dread ran down my whole body. A scream of a girl coming from that direction. Coming from BEYOND THE STATION.........
