This isn’t about the Wall, everybody knows that a Wall will work perfectly (In Israel the Wall works 99.9%). This is only about the Dems not letting Donald Trump & the Republicans have a win. They may have the 10 Senate votes, but we have the issue, Border Security. 2020!

This is a Tweet by @realDonaldTrump, tweeted in December 27th 2018. I'm putting that in the beginning just to point out why that's incorrectly said. First of all, the government is experiencing once again, a shutdown due to Trump and the Congress' disagreements. This time, it's about the wall Trump has preached about for years. It was a major part of his campaign during the elections and now he's getting down to business. The vote for the wall funding passed the House, but it's most likely going to go down in the Senate. Until Trump get his 5 billion dollars to fund the wall, the government will stay in that state.

What Trump isn't taking into account is that $5 billion isn't enough. The wall isn't going to keep people out if they really want to get into the coutnry. It's not going to take lot from people to dig under it or get over it. People have escaped prisons with the most unimaginable techniques so nothing is stopping immigrants from defeating one mere wall.

In case Trump actually put effort into the wall and made it like the one in Berlin was, it'd be more than just a wall. The Berlin Wall had actually two walls with an open area between so that guards could easily shoot the people trying to pass from the East to the West German side. The wall was there to make things hard, not impossible. It was the surveillance and guards that made getting through a challange. Destroying an unmanned wall is easy.

Israel isn't a good comparison here. The wall in Israel, which is supposed to separate the West Bank from another parts of Israel soil isn't even ready yet. It's supposed to be about 680 kilometers long (about 420 miles) and the counstructions begun in 2002. Also, it's just not a wall, it's mostly a fence of barbed wire, monitored all the time. Parts of the wall are made of concrete and overall there are almost 100 places to cross the fence legally.

The US-Mexico border is over 3100 kilometers (almost 2000 miles) long, most of it being either mountains, desert and the Grande Rio River. The highest peak of the border is at 2400 meters (1.5 miles). Building a proper wall that would actually stop people from crossing it, like in Israel or Berlin, would cost a lot more than $5 billion.

Trump is ignoring the core of the wall. It would need surveillance all the time. Deploying troops to guard the border would be a ridiculous investment and it wouldn't work in all places eitherway. Even video surveillance would be hard and cost a lot of money.

All in all, $5 billion isn't enough money to make Trump's wall idea work. He hasn't thought about it in the long run, which he hardly ever does about anything. Trump needs to think outside the box, not just build a wall to stand in the middle of Rio Grande. If Trump wants to keep immigrants from coming into the US, he needs to pay more attention to details and considers all the ways he can actually make the wall cost-effective in the long run.
