Walls keep things out, or they can keep things in... I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

House of Walls

By Henry Duthler

As darkness falls on my house of walls,

I look for light to give me sight.

The silence kills slow for the thrills,

Of seeing me sleep on the clean white sheets.

Enclosed by walls can you hear my calls?

Their silent like the night, darkness so bright.

My mind it stills my thoughts are nil,

As I enter in too deep to the darkness we call sleep.

No one to hear my calls trapped inside these walls,

My straightjacket so tight I’m unable to fight.

Force feeding me pills trying to bend my wills,

As I drown in sleep on my blackest white sheets.
