I Fear Not Ask

By Henry Duthler

What warmth surrounds me

And protects from winter’s icy grasp

What guides my eyes to see beyond

This blinded veil and broken clasp

As step by step I tremble along

Life’s twisted and well beaten paths

Who’s hand that leads me, and holds me tight

Is silent now and I fear not ask

When darkness comes for this poor soul

What will remain and what turned to ash?

As time teases, tricks and plays it’s games

The shattering begins of worn out masks

Against these walls screams echo in vain

Misconceived ideas of mindless facts

That hand that guides me grows cold to touch

Silence now, I fear not ask.
