The Cry of Midnight

byHenry Duthler

What a wicked night...
the air as sharp as claws.
The stench of evil lingering --
sillent, violent and raw.
Glistening eyes in moonlight
waiting for the witching hour,
the unquechable, unmistakable thirst
and ravenous appetite to devour.
The echo of the cry of midnight
ringing like a dinner bell,
as he stalks his prey
consumed by this enchanted spell.
Unretracted claws and teeth exposed -
an unholy killing machine...
unleashed, loose and hungry,
the soul of its prey ripped clean.
