You Always Knew

By Henry Duthler

Last night I heard it again
Raging out of control
Thunder screaming again
As the night took its toll
As darkness fills the sky
The lightning strikes again
I fear this storm is raging out of control

You always knew how to pull me through
The darkest of nights
Through the tears in the rain
And the toughest of days
Through the heartache and pain
You kept me warm sheltered from the storm

If I was falling apart
From deception and lies
Through the anger and pain
To the tearful good-bye's
You always knew how to pull me through
The storm
