For the boy who died, but still continues to haunt my sleep.

Smudged black shadows under closed, heavy eyes,

Slender hands clutching his collar,

Veins criss-crossing beneath translucent lids,

Mouth warped into a thin, twisted smile --

Are you thinking of me?

Chest rising and falling with laboured breathing,

Thin-skinned wrist throbbing with pulse,

White fingers twitching,

Dark eyelashes fluttering,

Asphalt irises flickering,

Lucien, dreaming.
