Her fingers danced up and down the black and white keys,

and from that came a beautiful melody.

She'd been practicing for months,

her performance was coming up soon.

She dreamed for days and days,

practiced for hours and hours.

It was the day of the performance,

she jumped out of bed with excitment,

and fell to the ground.

Two hours before the show,

she was in a hospital bed,

IVs running down her arm.

She woke up and said,

"Mommy, will I still get to play?"

Her mother's eyes filled with tears,

"No sweetie.  You'll miss this one."

The girl started to cry,

pleading to go.

Her mother refused again and again.

She asked what was wrong with her,

her mother didn't know.

Right then,

the docotors called her mother out.

She came back in,

and sobed.

"Mommy, what's wrong with me?" the girl whimpered.

She asked and asked,

and finally her mother said,

"You have brain cancer, it's bad. You'll  miss all of your performances."

The girl cried even harder,

piano was her life.

She grew up,

and died at sixteen.

She never playe piano again,

cancer killed her.
