An english assignmet. We had to write a vignette based on the book chapter "Four skinny trees." The main character was comparing herself to four trees outside her house. Here is my try at it. ;)

Pen in Hand

By Rosalie Dear

It’s strange how a pen can understand more than a real person. People ask why and judge. A pen just copies down words from your mind. A pen doesn’t need to see you to trust you. It’ll write and never fall asleep. You’ll say, well how can a pen understand you? Well it doesn’t. That’s the beauty of it. The pen doesn’t know how you feel. It doesn’t ease the pain. It just lets you open a new book, a new page, and lets you write. Just write your heart away you imagine it saying. No matter what you say, no matter how harsh or sweet it is, it’ll copy it. You have complete power over it. The feeling of power is amazing, but terrifying at the same time. But sometimes the power feels just right. Like when you’re screaming and nobody can hear you. And if you were mute, the pen would be your helper. If the power of the pen were not a secret, it would be taken advantage of. History would be upside down and sideways. That’s why it’s a secret only us who need it have. It’s a secret we need to keep. Hope we can keep it!
