caring could never be enough...

When caring isn`t enough,
what`s left to heal the wounds,
sliding into the underworld of Atlantis
beyond the reach of angels
a rose becomes a Violet
hidden in a bed of thorns,
old enough to know the dangers
and young enough not to care.
The price of survival
extracted in the pound of flesh
your caring becomes a puzzle piece
of the gathered masses.
There`s no need to wonder why
when everything you gave wasn`t enough
it could never be enough,
the one trait lacking
appears to be the only one
that could have made a difference.
Trying to be everything
that amounted to nothing
but a path to shattered dreams
and broken hearts
and darkest nights
until beyond catches up
and loneliness is all that`s left.
