Only A Reflection

Enchanted by the moonlit waters,
As I gaze upon the great blue sea,
The moon on the gently flowing waves,
It’s reflection glaring back at me

For a moment, I do pause,
I search, looking up to the sky,
Looking for the moon, for it should,
Be settled calmly, way up high

But there is no moon,
Only the stars on a blanket of dark blue,
They sparkle without the moon,
Onto the waters with a dark green hue

But the moon’s still there,
A reflection in the water, next to my boat,
And I realize, the moon, it is not in the sky,
Not only a reflection does float
