Given Love

I was sitting at the edge of the block,
With no one recognizing my plain existence.
I watch every person’s face,
As it turns away looking as if they would not care.
Oh, how it stabs my heart!
This put me in deep despair…

By the stroke of midnight,
When everyone I thought was asleep.
A man stood in front of the pole
Which shows the address of each street,
Went near to me and says,
“Hey, what’s a girl doing here in the middle of the night?”
I looked up to see his face,
Then turned back to pretend I didn’t hear a thing.

After a while he sat beside me
Then looked at the evening sky.
He looked for the brightest star his eyes could find
Then pointed to it and said,
“That star is just like your personality…”
My eyes just stared at his handsome face,
I could not say a word, for at that time I’m speechless.

A moment later, dawn awakes.
I’ve realized I haven’t got any sleep since last night,
I yawned despite of the stranger beside me.
The suddenly I collapsed!
The guy beside me captured me in time,
Then held me close to his chest where I heard
The sound of his heart beating.

Soon after this happened,
You’ll find him kissing my head to bid me
A nice and peaceful sleep.
Tears flowed down my face
As I remembered my lost family.

He recognized the pain
That flows deep within my veins,
He squeezed me more to let me know that he cares,
Then he whispered to me,
“I’m so sorry for you…”
I opened my eyes, still full of heavy tears, and
Looked at him,
Then I cried more for I can’t bear this sadness.

By the time I stopped crying…
The person beside me was long gone,
I stood up then realized a note was at my hand.
It said,
“We’ll meet again, my daughter…”
I cried afterwards then hit my self, for how
Could a daughter forget her own father’s face!?
I wiped my tears then walked slowly still thinking
Of how a father’s given love was so real.
