The story takes place on Mars many years after a massive volcanic eruption destroys the Earth, but not before several shuttles leave to inhabit a newly developed colony on the red planet. The people that now inhabit the planet soon find themselves on the brink of war and only the sacrifice of one of them will settle it...

I looked at the expansive landscape in front of me and I sighed, setting off for the building in the horizon. The Main summoned me to his home for unknown reasons. My feet kicked at the dirt, billowing red clouds where I step. I think back to the planet of our ancestors, Earth. Why anyone would have inhabited the volcano planet is beyond me, but of course they claim that before the endless eruptions there was water and grass and beauty. Personally I don't believe that.

I look up at the doors that were in front of me now and took a deep breath, heading inside. The interior was large and decorated with simple furniture. In the center sat a large desk, and behind the desk sat a Dayuhan woman, one of the people who occupied a planet in the next universe. I walked up to her and spoke, "I have been summoned by the Main. May I go inside?" She gave me a once over before nodding slightly, allowing me past. I thanked her and walked to the next room, stopping in the doorway.

The Main looked up and smiled at me. He waved for me to enter and shut the door, allowing us some privacy. "I'm glad you showed up Belle," he said quietly.

I nodded and sank into a chair, "What did you need?"

He laughed lightly and sank into his own seat, "The same thing I've asked you about before."

My wandering gaze turned to his and narrowed into slits. "I thought I made it clear on that. I won't do it," my voice was hard and if it could, I'm sure, it would cut like a razor. The Main shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips, "And I told you I won't accept that answer. You are going to do it whether or not you agree to it and go willingly or if I have to force you. I won't have war come to this planet because you refused to do what would help solve everything. The Fremds aren't a force to be reckoned with. You will go there and do as their leader asks of you, whether it be slave work or something else. You're going."

I stared at him for a moment before answering, "I'd rather die than go there and be their slave."

He snapped his fingers, summoning two large men from behind me. He spoke in a hushed tone, "I'm sorry sister, but we have no choice."

The men grabbed me and placed me in a shuttle bound for the planet Fremd. I stared out the window at my quickly fading home of Mars, sighing heavily, aware that my home planets future was in my hands. I closed my eyes and accepted my fate.
